Developed by Research in Motion (RIM), a leading designer and marketer of wireless solutions, it was founded in 1984 and based in waterloo. RIM provides platforms and solutions for seamless access to time-sensitive information, including email, phone, SMS messaging, Internet and intranet-based applications. The new model 8800 from black berry is a sleek and sexy phone. It is a beefier model complete with a full-sized keyboard and bigger display. RIM Blackberry 8800 offers mobile professionals a well-rounded smart phone with added multimedia functions, GPS, and push-to-talk capabilities.
Design
The hand set comes in a sleek design with smoothed edges. Launched in a deep midnight blue casing and chrome accents the phone looks very elegant. It’s definitely thinner than the earlier models.
Display
The phone features a beautiful 2.5-inch (diagonal), 65,000-color display with a 320×240 resolution. Text and images are clear and vibrant, and the screen also features light-sensing technology that automatically adjusts the backlighting of the screen. The phone sports the same silky-smooth trackball for navigation and chrome accents on the sides, as in the pearl.
Keys
The phone has a real QWERTY keyboard. The buttons are pretty large and each key also has a raised ridge to make them more tactile. The number keys are highlighted in white, and there’s also a shortcut on the keyboard to activate the speakerphone.
Camera
The Blackberry 8800 has a fixed pair of cameras, something totally different from the classic rotating camera!
Audio
The phone now has now has multimedia capabilities. More specifically, you can use the built-in media player to listen to music (MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR-NB, and MIDI formats) and watch video (MPEG4, WMV, and H.263 files). You can create play lists as “folders”. It also displays some track information, such as title, artist, and album art if available
Features
What makes this Blackberry unique is its GPS capability.The device with a GPS system, enabling the 8800 to double as a navigator using the included TeleNav software. Blackberry Internet Service, allows users to set up ten personal and corporate e-mail accounts and features the easiest setup of any smart phone. Attachment support also is excellent, as you can view Word, Excel, PDF, and JPEG files. It also has a bigger battery for longer talk time.
